Skating Party

Every year after Graduation, the school hosts a Roller Skating party for all the kids and their families at the local roller rink. And since we no longer live near a ice rink, this is the next best thing. Here are some shots of the party.

Toothless Truett

Being one of the last ones in his class to loose his first tooth, Truett was beyond excited when it finally happened.

After having a conversation about how we were wondering when would his loose tooth finally come out, I started to brush his teeth. I was very careful not to put to much pressure on the loose tooth, but even with the smallest of movement, his tooth just came out.

I am so thankful that it happened so naturally and not with us pulling it and traumatizing him. I have some very vivid memories of my fear of pain while my parents tied a string to my tooth and my a door handle. The ordeal would take what felt like forever, since every time they tried closing the door, I would jump forward for fear of it hurting. At the end, I would always be amazed at how it actually didn't hurt, but by then I was already traumatized by the experience. So needless to say, that I was overjoyed when nature took its course and his tooth simply "fell out" with out any prompting from me.

School Carnival

Every year, in the spring time, the school does a carnival with lots of fun things to do, prizes to win, and funds to raise for the school.

We got to join in with our own little booth. We got to pass out some information about the Salvation Army and the programs we have in the community. We also have a "kissing booth" sign next to a jar of Hershey kisses, so people could guess how many "kisses" where is it. The winner got to keep the jar and candy. Unfortunately, Peanut was the one with the closest guess, so the jar came back home with us.

One of the teachers brought her horses so the kids could take rides. And my little city kids could not get enough of it.

There was face painting, carnival games, food, prizes, raffles and more, but the kids spend most of their day on the inflatables.

I love little carnivals like this. Fun family days that don't take much work and don't cost much are defiantly winner in my book.

The New Bike

Grandma and Papa came to visit from Jersey in October and it was like Christmas came early for the kids.

Peanut got a lot of cute girly things from grandma, but when we went to the store to pick out her brothers bike, she picket out this crazy looking unicorn helmet, and said it was all she wanted. She had a great time just rocking the helmet while she made her daddy and Papa pull her around since she is still too little for her bike.

Truett got a new bike as a very early Christmas gift. He is so very excited to learn to ride, but he is also very fearful, and with the weather changing, he may have to wait until Spring to master bike riding. I'm not pushing it too hard, since I was already 10 when I learned to ride a bike. How old were you, when you learned to ride your bike?

Let's Build It!

Lowe's has a program called Build and Grow. The program is basically a building clinic for the kids. The kids receive a kit to build something, for October it was a haunted house the opened up so you could put candy in it. There is a "work bench" set up with little hammers and space for the kids to build. The first time they go, the receive goggles and an apron. Every time they come back for a new project, the receive a new iron-on patch to put on their apron to show what they have already done.
And the best part- it is completely free!

The kiddos had a great time building and we will defiantly be coming back for more. Other chain hardware stores offer the same program with a different name. So if you have one in your town, check them out, because it is a lot of fun for the whole family to build something together. Not to mention that it is free and the kids get a toy out of it.

First Day of School

We're taking a break from homeschooling for the year because of my work. But the kids are in no way upset about it. The little troopers were super excited about their new adventure.

The adorable signs are from a back to school bundle I purchased from IHeart Organizing blog. It had all kinds of cute things- it was money well spend.

The teachers were did such a good job at making them feel welcome. And their first day was a success.
Oh, by the way the cute tags with their pictures are from Thirty Hand Made Days blog.
